Are There Any Age Restrictions?
You must be at least 21 years of age with a “G Class” driver’s licence to rent/drive an economy, intermediate or full-size vehicle. We will allow 21 year old renters/drivers to operate our Cargo Vans and Cube Vans. You must be at least 25 years of age to rent/drive any Passenger Van, Minivan, SUV or Luxury/Exotic vehicle.
Is a Security Deposit: Required?
You must present a valid driver's licence and a major credit card, both in your name, in person at our rental counter. Please note: a credit check will be performed on the credit card.
Can I Pay With Pre-paid Credit Card Or My Debit Card?
We do not accept Pre-paid credit cards whatsoever. You must present a valid Visa, MasterCard or American Express card at time of rental as security. Upon return you are welcome to pay for the rental on your debit card or with cash.
Are There Any Restriction With G1 or G2 licences?
We do accept a G2 licence, however we are unable to rent to G1 licence holders. G2 Drivers will have to provide their own personal insurance coverage
Are There Late Return Fees?
A minimum $40 per hour charge applies, until you reach the daily rate. All truck rentals are subject to a $200.00 per hour late fee.
Am I able To Take The Rental Out Of My Province Or Country?
Yes. Please let us know at time of rental pick up or reservation, so we can add the appropriate coverage to your rental agreement. A nominal daily fee will apply for out of province or country rentals to cover increased liability.
Am I Responsible For Refuelling?
All renters are responsible for the cost of refuelling. We recommend you refuel the vehicle within 5 Km of the rental branch and present your fuel receipt upon return to avoid any refuelling charges.
Are Additional Drivers Allowed?
Yes, as long as they have presented their driver’s licence to us at the rental counter, and are added to your rental agreement as an additional driver. All drivers must be noted on the rental agreement. Additional drivers will be subject to an additional driver fee.
Please note: Failure to formally add a driver to your rental agreement voids the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.
What Should I Do If I’m Involved In An Accident?
First be sure to contact any emergency services if injuries are involved. If not, contact the police to complete an accident report and immediately. Be sure to collect as much information from all parties involved in the accident, such as driver’s licence, insurance policy number and names of witnesses. Take photos of the vehicle immediately. Accidents must be reported to our office within 24 hours, we will give you further instructions once you contact us.
Do I need To Sign A Collision Loss Damage Waiver?
We offer CDW (Collision Loss Damage Waiver) at a flat daily rate. Collision Loss Damage Waiver (CDW) is offered by The Car Rental Place to all of our customers to minimize your financial responsibility from any damage as a result of an accident to the rental vehicle. The Car Rental Place waives all or part (as indicated on the rental agreement at time of rental) of the customer's liability for damages to the vehicle provided the terms and conditions of the rental agreement are not violated.
Do You Offer A Personal Accident Liability?
Our PAI protects you from the most frequent car rental incidents and damages.
PAI advantages:
- Covers costs of road hazard damage such as windshield and tire up to $500.00
- Covers costs of minor dents and scratches up to $500.00.
- Plus emergency roadside assistance.

What If I'm Fined For Traffic and Toll Violations or Red-Light Camera Violations?
The renter of the vehicle is liable for all parking tickets, traffic violations, red-light camera violations and 407 ETR driving. Once we receive the violation or toll charge in the mail we will pay it immediately on your behalf to reduce incurring any rising ticket costs. We will then bill your credit card for the ticket amount, plus an administration charge of $50.00 per infraction..
